TACTICAL UAS FOR SPECIAL FORCES
An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Special Forces and Rapid Deployment Concept
Operational Requirements :
Current requirements for SOF (special forces) requires intermediate range ISR missions (+ 30 km ) from land and sea .
Other forces requirements push for rapid deployment of UAV system in the battlefield by helicopters, cargo aircraft ,small craft or light ground vehicles
Fast reaction UAV systems are needed for day/night operations with limited human resources
Quick deployment and post deployment are essential to mobile forces
Persistent Surveillance requires long endurance and high reliability of components (6 hours minimum )
Easy to operate and compact ground control station is also a need for forces deployed with minimum resources
Low acoustic signature as well as IR and Radar signatures are mandatory to keep the operative force undetected
Weight of the overall system ( UAV , Container-Launcher, GCS ) shall be less than 50 kg
Rugged UAV and rugged system are specific requirements for forces that are operating in harsh environments .
UAV shall be able to high rate of climb ,sustain several operation modes, have long endurance, be able to sustain very quiet operation mode , be airborne in very short time with minimum preparation
